| Pick’s For Paint started out as a small country part store in 1970.
In 1974, Pick’s For Parts opened in LaPlace, LA and became a PPG Ditzler
jobber in 1976. In 1979, Pick’s For Paint opened for business, in Metairie,
LA. In July 2001, we came full circle when we opened up a branch store in
Reserve, LA where all this started more than 30 years ago.
In almost three decades as a paint jobber, we have seen paint technology make huge strides, from straight enamel, acrylic enamel, and lacquer to water borne basecoat and one coat clears. It has been amazing and at times a bumpy ride as we have helped pioneer some of this new technology. In the past, it was our job, as paint jobbers, to sell the customer a can of paint, but like the paint, the paint business has also changed. Painters are now refinish technicians and body shops are collision centers. As business has changed, we have changed. Now in addition to technician training, we offer management training, from estimate writing, sales, front office and production. We now offer benchmarking with our MVP program. Our CertifiedFirst program is a unique way to get work to your facility. Pick’s For Paint is also a charter member of PPG’s Platinum Distributor program. In 1999, 2000, and 2001 we achieved Platinum Plus status. Only a small percentage of PPG distributors achieve this award.
